Description

This night was something special. Roughly -10C, slightly windy and in the beginning of the night it was a constant battle between clouds and the forecasted clearing of them. We climbed the mountain during the evening and waited patiently.
The mountaintop is located at about 1100m above sea level, the clouds always stayed at 1200-1300 meters and all predictions said that they will drop.
The forecast was right but a few hours off so we were just about giving up and calling it the night.

When I saw the first star shining through the clouds it was clear to me that it was worth the wait. About 10-15mins later the sky fully cleared and we were just a few meters above the clouds. We then moved to our planned spot a few minutes away and had an amazing time.

This shot was taken just before the end of our trip on the way back to pick up the timelapse gear which I placed on the way.
The sky and foreground were shot at 30sec and f2.8 on my Samyang 35mm f1.4 + Sony a7s setup.

Back then I didn't capture any H-alpha data so I tried to mix data which I've captured last year to this shot. It worked perfectly and helped to bring out alot more of the details in Orion and the surrounding areas.
